National Football League suspends Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott six games

Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott has been suspended for six games by the NFL on Friday for violating the league's personal conduct policy.

The suspension comes after the NFL's year-long investigation into allegations of domestic violence against Elliott made by an ex-girlfriend and other off-field incidents. Elliott was interviewed by National Football League investigators in October and again last month while phone records and other pertinent documents were turned over in May.

Zeke was suspended for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy, the league announced Friday (Aug. 11).

The KRISTV.COM application is available now on the App Store™ and Android App Store! Elliott was accused by his ex-girlfriend, Tiffany Thompson, of five domestic violence incidents over a six-day span in Columbus, Ohio. And based on the claims of innocence by himself, and the adamant public support from owner Jerry Jones, they undoubtedly will do so.

"Legal authorities concluded that Elliott's accuser was not credible and rejected charging him". The suspension, pending appeal, is schedule to kick in on September 2nd.

The NFL released a statement shortly after Schefter's report saying it interviewed more than a dozen witnesses and consulted medical experts.

Dallas is set to open its regular season on Sunday, Sept. 10, hosting the New York Giants in primetime on NBC.

Elliott did not immediately comment on the suspension.

If the suspension goes into effect, Elliott can still participate in preseason practices and games, and return to the team's active roster as soon as October 23. Elliott will not be allowed into the Cowboys' training complex from whenever the suspension begins until it ends.

The No. 4 overall pick of the 2016 draft, Elliott earned All-Pro honors as a rookie, rushing for 1,631 yards and 15 touchdowns.
